ata renewables takes part of FRW´s winning DEWA record of US$3 Kw/h in the 800 MW PV Project tender

ata renewable had a role calculating the solar yield study exclusively to Masdar and FRV as part of their proposal for the 800MW DEWA bid.

FRV and Masdar have set a new record with their bid of US$3 per Kw/h with their bid for the 800 MW Sheikh Maktoum Solar Park Phase III. This project is part of the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA).

Alvaro Payán, head of Strategic Projects of ata renewables, commented that ata and FRV have worked together in numerous projects before. `We are always ready to support our clients in their projects. Achieving these unbelievable cost reductions is a challenge for any company, but FVR and Masdar raised to it spectacularly.

Winning a project of this calibre with such outstanding lead is no easy task. It is really team work and coordination of dozens of companies and professionals working to fulfil a clear objective. ´We are overjoyed to have played a small role in their success and are looking forward to work with them in this projects and many others in the future´ Payán continued.

This project will be the largest solar power undertaking in the world, part of the target proposed by the Emirate of Dubai for 2020 to reach 7% of clean energy power. The target increases to 25% by 2030 and 75% by 2050.

The lowest bid beats Jinko Solar with 3.69/kWh and ACWA´s h 3.96/kWh. The last project round´s winning bid was ACWA´s US$5.85Kw/h just over 6 months ago sent a clear message around the world that PV´s learning curve was accelerating. That represents more than 40% decrease in quoted prices in a matter of months. A few weeks ago México was on the headlines for getting the prices down to US$3.5Kw/h. However, ENEL´s winning bid  in Mexico didn´t stay top of the podium for very long.
